Description

"Soulmates" captures the quiet strength of two souls moving through life as one. This original oil painting by Penelope Bushman depicts figures intertwined in their journey—communicating without words, supporting each other through every season. Hand-sewn bead accents add dimensional texture and luminosity to the canvas, while gallery wrapping presents the work as a finished statement piece. Each brushstroke and bead placement reflects Bushman's meditative approach to depicting human connection and shared purpose.

About the Artist

A smiling woman with long red hair and blue eyes wearing a bright turquoise button-up shirt, photographed indoors against a warm-toned decorative background.

Penelope grew up surrounded by the beautiful sand dunes of northern Indiana where she began painting watercolors of the beach at a young age. She studied fine art at the Academy of Art in Chicago. After completing her training, she moved to Arizona and was inspired by the rich beauty of the southwest and its native history.

Penelope translates the ancient imagery into colorful contemporary portrayals of shamans and sentinels. She is "intrigued by the shaman figure depicted in petroglyphs for all it symbolizes: healing, wisdom and the quest for spiritual connection."

Penelope's original oil on canvas paintings display her love of color and texture. The Shamans gowns portray beautiful fabric designs and include interesting elements of texture and often hand-strung bead work.

Penelope welcomes commissions and would be delighted to create an original oil painting tailored to your preferred size and color palette.
