Description

A striking portrait of dignified strength, "Noble Warrior" captures the essence of Southwest artistry through Penelope Bushman's masterful hand. Vibrant pigments across a woven canvas, evoke the timeless visual language of ancient petroglyphs. The composition centers on a commanding, regal figure—rendered with the reverence of ceremonial imagery.

Hand-strung beads are meticulously sewn directly onto the canvas surface, adding tactile depth and authentic craftsmanship that elevates this piece beyond traditional printmaking.

The interplay of woven texture, rich color, and dimensional beadwork creates a layered artwork that anchors any room with presence and cultural significance.

About the Artist

A smiling woman with long red hair and blue eyes wearing a bright turquoise button-up shirt, photographed indoors against a warm-toned decorative background.

Penelope grew up surrounded by the beautiful sand dunes of northern Indiana where she began painting watercolors of the beach at a young age. She studied fine art at the Academy of Art in Chicago. After completing her training, she moved to Arizona and was inspired by the rich beauty of the southwest and its native history.

Penelope translates the ancient imagery into colorful contemporary portrayals of shamans and sentinels. She is "intrigued by the shaman figure depicted in petroglyphs for all it symbolizes: healing, wisdom and the quest for spiritual connection."

Penelope's original oil on canvas paintings display her love of color and texture. The Shamans gowns portray beautiful fabric designs and include interesting elements of texture and often hand-strung bead work.

Penelope welcomes commissions and would be delighted to create an original oil painting tailored to your preferred size and color palette.
